The aftercare of your weft extensions is essential to keeping them looking and feeling their best. Please follow the guidance below to maintain the quality and lifespan of your extensions.
Washing
Always use sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner to protect both your natural hair and your extensions.
Wash gently and avoid pulling directly on the weft band.
Avoid using very hot water. High temperatures can strip the hair of natural oils, open up the cuticle, and cause dryness and tangling. Cooler or lukewarm water helps keep the hair cuticle sealed, locking in moisture and maintaining smoothness.
After washing, blow-dry the band thoroughly — never leave it to air-dry, as this may weaken the weft and shorten its lifespan.
Brushing
Use a soft-bristle or extension brush.
Hold the hair at the root while brushing to reduce tension on the weft.
Start from the ends and work upwards to prevent breakage and shedding.
Hydration
Apply a light hair oil daily to the mid-lengths and ends to keep the hair soft and shiny.
Avoid applying oil directly to the roots or weft band, as this can cause slippage.
Sleeping
Tie your hair in a loose braid or ponytail before bed to minimise tangling.
Use a silk or satin pillowcase or wear a silk/satin bonnet to reduce friction and dryness overnight.
Swimming & Water Exposure
Before swimming, coat extensions with conditioner and secure them in a braid or tight bun.
Rinse hair immediately after swimming where possible.
Chlorine, salt water, and hard water are known to strip colour and nutrients from both natural hair and extensions, leading to dryness and dullness. Minimise exposure where possible.
Styling & Heat
Always apply a heat protectant before using styling tools.
Do not use styling tools above 180°C (350°F), as higher temperatures can damage the hair cuticle, cause dryness, and shorten the lifespan of your extensions.
Keep hot tools away from the weft band to avoid weakening the attachment.
Limit heat styling where possible to maintain the quality of the extensions.
